International recognition of the Ukrainian electronic publication. Educational electronic manual “Physical Geography of Ukraine” created by the “Cartography” SSPE, has won the second place in the “Digital products” category.

25 - 30 August 2013 in Dresden (Germany) there was held the 26th International Cartographic Conference, which brought together scientific specialists on cartography, geographic information systems, Earth Remote Sensing, geography, and other fields related to creation of maps. This year's conference, which was held at the International congress center on the banks of the Elbe, attracted about 1,500 participants from over 40 countries. It was organized by the International Cartographic Association (ICA), the German Cartographic Society and the Technical University of Dresden. Traditionally, during conferences there is held an exhibition and competition of cartographic products in the following categories: maps printed on paper (traditional maps), atlases, digital maps and atlases, educational cartographic products, other cartographic publications (including globes and atlases and maps for blind and visually impaired persons). The current cartographic exhibition was attended by 33 countries and 6 associate members.

The educational electronic manual Physical Geography of Ukraine, created by the Cartography SSPE, has won the second place in the Digital productscategory. About 40 different digital cartographic products were submitted for the competition: online atlases, national Geoportals, a variety of thematic Geoportals (tourist, antique and vintage maps, cartographic departments of libraries, administrative and cadastral maps, etc.). Getting of recognition among such important projects is very honorable. The international jury has given the first place to the “DirckeGlobusOnline” publication (Germany) and the third place was won by the “Backintime” French geoportal.
